Semp and I always team up, put a ton of work in, and then watch as the league implodes around us.

You'd think we'd learn to stop trying to rebuild, seeing how the seasons never seem to make the postseason, but we're pretty slow...

I don't like what Miami's doing at all. They built a very solid core of specs, and then traded it for Emilio Bonifacio v. 2.0 and a one-year, non-ace rental.

What the **** is your problem with sim leagues?
I have literally never seen one go past 2 seasons.
This.

Latos is really underrated. An absolutely stellar 2 who has pitched 30 games in 4 of the last 5 years.

I have always been a fan of his.  Seem to be able to snag him late in fantasy drafts too which is a bonus.

Sidney Crosby has the mumps and will miss at least the next two games. This is a very strange thing as it's not common for adults to get them.

Some interesting moves happening! Santana finally gets his long term contract. 4 years is a pretty good one. 55 million is a steal for Minnesota. He could be earning a lot more.

Tigers Acquire Alfredo Simon:  The Tigers have officially agreed to a deal with the Reds for starter Alfredo Simon, . A pair of 23-year-olds will be headed to Cincinnati in the trade: shortstop Eugenio Suarez and pitching prospect Jonathan Crawford.  Simon, a veteran righty, is projected by MLBTR and Matt Swartz to earn $5.1MM in his final year of arbitration eligibility. The 33-year-old has served as both a reliever and a starter in the past, but broke out last year with 196 1/3 innings of 3.44 ERA ball, with 5.8 K/9 against 2.6 BB/9.

Royals To Sign Kendrys Morales:
The Royals have agreed to a two-year, $17 million deal with free agent DH Kendrys Morales. Morales, a switch-hitter, is 31 years of age and becomes the replacement for long-time DH Billy Butler.  Between 2009 and 2013 — not including a 2011 campaign lost to injury — Morales owned a cumulative .286/.339/.494 line while averaging over twenty home runs per season. That was good for a 128 OPS+, plenty above average even for a bat-only player. Last year, however, he slashed just .218/.274/.338 over 401 plate appearances.

Tigers, Red Sox Swap Porcello For Cespedes: The Tigers and Red Sox have officially agreed to a deal that will send outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to Detroit in return for starter Rick Porcello.  Righty Alex Wilson and lefty Gabe Speier are also heading to Detroit. Porcello, who is still not quite 26 years of age, had a breakout 2014 after years of promise. His 3.43 ERA was backed by his peripherals, even though his strikeout rate dropped.  Cespedes is himself only 29 and features plenty of power in his right-handed bat. Despite playing in Oakland for most of the last three seasons, Cespedes has hit more than twenty long balls in each campaign. But his ability to reach base has not been so consistent.

Marlins Acquire Mat Latos From Reds:  The Marlins continued to make additions, dealing for righty Mat Latos of the Reds. Pitching prospect Anthony DeSclafani and young catcher Chad Wallach are going to Cincinnati in the deal.Though Latos has had some recent arm issues, he is an excellent performer when healthy. In fact, he has not posted an ERA of higher than 3.50 in any season since his brief rookie debut. Last year, he worked to a 3.25 earned run mark over 102 1/3 innings, striking out 6.5 and walking 2.3 batters per nine. Those strikeout figures were down from his career standards. And while the innings total is surely a concern, Latos had averaged 200 frames per season over the prior four campaigns.

Red Sox Sign Justin Masterson:  The Red Sox made another addition to their rotation by signing right-hander Justin Masterson to a one-year contract.  Masterson, 29, fell off significantly last year after a three-year run in which he averaged 205 frames and a 3.86 ERA (that included outstanding campaigns in 2011 and 2013 sandwiched around a dud in 2012).  In 2014, he scuffled to a 5.88 ERA in 128 2/3 innings last year, striking out 8.1 and walking 4.8 batters per nine.

Twins To Sign Ervin Santana: The Twins have agreed to a four-year, $55 million deal with free agent starter Ervin Santana. He earned that payday by following up his excellent 2013 campaign with a solid effort last year. Santana threw 196 innings for Atlanta, posting a 3.95 ERA with 8.2 K/9 against 2.9 BB/9 and a 42.7% groundball rate. But there were signs that he was even better than his results, as FIP (3.39), xFIP (3.47), and SIERA (3.63) all liked his work.
