I just read something about a NHL outbreak of it. that's a shame, but it's probably just made into a bigger story than what it is, just like ebola -- realize how we never hear about that anymore either?
The mumps have already affected twice as many hockey players as ebola affected Americans.

Apparently all of the guys got it. Mumps vaccine is about 85% success rate.

Do Canadian kids not get vaccination? It's mandatory on this side of the border.

A little. They're usually known for letting their prospects develop for a few seasons and then shipping them off quickly after they establish some form of success. They're usually not known for buying expensive major leaguers* they don't need, they're known for selling low on good prospects.

*I know Latos and Gordon aren't "expensive", but they're a helluva lot more expensive than their specs.
I don't buy that Miami sells low. In 2008, more than a few people believed that Cameron Maybin was the best player in that trade.

What the **** is your problem with sim leagues?
I have literally never seen one go past 2 seasons.

Latos is really underrated. An absolutely stellar 2 who has pitched 30 games in 4 of the last 5 years.

Wow, the Dodgers were busy yesterday.

They traded two minor pitching prospects for Jimmy Rollins, then shipped Dee Gordon and Dan Haren to Miami for Andrew Heaney and stuff (the stuff looks pretty good), then they flipped Andrew Heaney for Howie Kendrick, and used the money freed up from Dan Haren to get Brandon McCarthy for 4/48.

Aside from that, I can't think of anything "special" that happened. Antonio Bastardo went to Pittsburgh for a nobody pitcher, but that's all that comes to mind immediately.
A couple reactions. First, from a baseball sense, the Dodgers got Howie Kendrick real cheap. Not sure what Halos were thinking.

From a sentimental perspective, goddamnit Phillies. The closest stadiums to me, overall and professional, are the Phillies and Phillies affiliates. I basically grew up with that team. Haven't missed a Cubs series at Citizen's Bank since 2008. Rollins was one of 6 guys with 10+ years of service for exclusively 1 team, and one of 3 Phillies. My first experience with baseball was watching him in his MVP year. I was in the ballpark when he got his hit to make him the Phillies record holder. He was a fine man and a great ball player, and in spite of being a Mets fan locally, I can't hate the Phillies. I can hate Washington and Miami and Atlanta, but the Phillies have meant too much to my baseball upbringing to warrant hate. J Roll was always rolling at the heart of it. He will be missed.

Feeling pretty great about Lester

You must be ecstatic.  Happy Birthday by the way!
Haha thanks. Yeah the Cubs need an ace, and they got one. Can't complain about theo stepping up.

Wendle isn't a prospect, he's a minor league player. Big difference.

Guys come to HomeRunHeroics.com

Always nice when a staff member abandons a site and then wants us to follwe him to another site....

I always took it this was a placeholder till MLBB/STS 3.0 opened.
HRH is not STS.

One stadium not drawing fans is a fluke. 3 in 20 years including 3 teams that made the World Series is a serious problem. Florida will not buy baseball tickets.

No

Lmao why not
This site is obviously not going anywhere.
In the most traditional sense, it really doesn't have to go anywhere.
instead of getting people here to go to a different site, why don't we recruit for people to come here?

and I found out a couple days ago - if you're friends with me on FB you already would've seen - but I have a child on the way. only about 5 or 6 weeks along but still shocking to me
That's awesome! I honestly have no idea how the baby cycle works, assuming that you can't know gender yet. How old are you?
