Apparently they do not need pitching.

Gloves are optional, too. Wil Myers is their opening day CF. Wil Myers wasn't even a good RF.

Padres are going for it.

In a really dumb manner.

European Discussion / Theirry Henry Retires
« on: December 16, 2014, 08:35:28 am »
I wasn't really sure where to put this, seeing as he retired from America, but considering he's French, and played in England, France, Italy, and Spain before coming to play in the retirement community of America, so I figured it'd work well here. Henry won two FA cups and an English title with Arsenal, the Champions League and two Liga titles with Barcelona, as well as a World Cup with France. While he's not often considered among the all-time greats, he was an elite player of his generation - and a player that many fans grew to love over his career.

Round of 16 Draws:

PSG v. Chelsea
Man City v. Barcelona
Bayer Leverkusen v. Atletico Madrid
Juventus v. Borussia Dortmund
Schalke FC 04 v. Real Madrid
Shakhtar Donetsk v. Bayern Munich
Arsenal v. Monaco
Basel v. Porto

If you need more proof that UEFA is very Madrid happy, you'll need to look no further than this match. Last season they matched up in the round of 16 as well, and won 9-2. While it's possible that they coincidentally got the same draw, Barca/Man City is also the same draw and PSG/Chelsea is the same draw. Seems odd that all of these repeat match-ups are happening, but I guess it could be an odd coincidence.

I've been home for about two days, and it's been wonderful. I definitely underestimated how much I would miss my family when I left for college my freshman year!

Eventually people will understand the goal isn't hyper-activity and growth...eventually.

They also moved Beckett and Lowell for Ramirez and Anibal Sanchez that wasn't good Anibal Sanchez until he left Miami. They moved Miggy for nothing. They've sold very low on some very good prospects.

It'll be interesting to see how Chelsea responds to last week. They're playing Hull City, so it shouldn't be too difficult, but it'll be interesting nonetheless.

A little. They're usually known for letting their prospects develop for a few seasons and then shipping them off quickly after they establish some form of success. They're usually not known for buying expensive major leaguers* they don't need, they're known for selling low on good prospects.

*I know Latos and Gordon aren't "expensive", but they're a helluva lot more expensive than their specs.

Semp and I always team up, put a ton of work in, and then watch as the league implodes around us.

You'd think we'd learn to stop trying to rebuild, seeing how the seasons never seem to make the postseason, but we're pretty slow...

I don't like what Miami's doing at all. They built a very solid core of specs, and then traded it for Emilio Bonifacio v. 2.0 and a one-year, non-ace rental.

It's worth noting these are "random" draws, so they're guesses at best. Just seems like Real Madrid and Bayern get pretty easy draws in the Round of 16 while Barca and Chelsea usually get harder opponents.

Knockout round draw is on Monday. If I had to guess, the draw will look something like this:

Atletico Madrid v. Schalke 04

Real Madrid v. Shakhtar Donetsk

AS Monaco v. Bayer Leverkusen

Borussia Dortmund v. FC Basel

Bayern Munich v. Arsenal

Barcelona v. Manchester City

Chelsea v. Juventus

FC Porto v. PSG

Apparently the Dodgers and Padres agree on players involved in a Matt Kemp trade, but need permission from the Commissioner's Office due to the money involved. I haven't seen who, but all the rumors suggested it was for Yasmani Grandal plus.

Moral of the story: the Dodgers just got a lot better in the short and long term...which sucks.
